welcome to the
AOM community
Sponsors

All sponsors commit to creating consumer-reaching initiatives that support and encourage healthy eating and active living. This generous support helps AOM extend our mission by supporting existing programs and creating new programs, tools, online capabilities, and more.

AOM Sponsors

Dr. Donald S. Orkand

AOM would like to thank Dr. Donald Orkand for his generous donations which were instrumental in the development and implementation of the new AOM website and, specifically, the AOM Kids online community.

Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Foundation

The Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Foundation has awarded AOM a grant to help fund the continuation of its current Colorado-based programs including Community Walks, a partnership with CBS4, and the development of a new program called Strong School Campaign as part of the Fit 4 Colorado program. Additionally, funds from this grant were used to develop and launch the online Food and Physical Activity Scan (FAPAS) in November 2009, allowing all AOM members to evaluate their diet and exercise habits electronically and receive two small change goals targeted to their responses.

Sponsor Guidelines

A sponsor is typically a large foundation or consumer packaged goods or consumer services company who provides financial support to AOM in exchange for certain services.

  • Non-earmarked funds through base sponsorships support operating costs and enhancements to the website as well as furthering our reach to under-served populations.
  • Earmarked funds can support creation of new content and tools, specific website enhancements, or special contests or events.
  • Sponsor-specific work may begin once contracts are executed and payment has been received by AOM.
  • Initial options for sponsors are available for review. AOM is open to other opportunities so long as the final outcome supports AOM’s mission.

The following guidelines are used to help formulate and manage relationships with AOM sponsors. Officers of the Board of Directors oversee acceptance of funds and relationships with outside organizations according to these guidelines. AOM may accept funds according to the following conditions:

  • While grants and gifts to AOM may be designated to specific projects and activities, final decisions about design and execution of the project for which the funds are designated are made by AOM.
  • Programs and activities should be funded from multiple sources whenever possible. AOM recognizes that, for some activities, single-source funding may be the best solution.
  • AOM can accept funds from external organizations only if acceptance does not impact the objectivity of AOM, its activities, programs, or employees.
  • AOM’s programs and activities will be supported and funded by both public and private sectors whenever possible.

AOM will engage in relationships and/or joint ventures with other organizations or constituents according to the following conditions:

  • Any proposed program or activity managed by AOM must be motivated by and based on AOM’s mission. In most cases, AOM will proactively determine its priorities for external relationships and participate in those that fulfill these priorities.
  • AOM must agree to and approve editorial content for all projects or products bearing the AOM name or logo.
  • An external relationship with one or more organizations does not imply AOM's endorsement and/or approval of the other organization's policies, priorities, and actions. AOM's name and logo should not be used in a manner that would express or imply endorsement of the corporation or its policies.
